Benfield make history. Benfield win 2nd major Northumberland County trophy this season.

Saturday 19th August 2023, will be a day to remember for more reasons than one... With Rachel and Kayleigh winning the National Mixed Fours Championship in Lemington our dual fours rinks won the County Challenge Cup for the first time in their history at Portland BC. Taking maximum points on a warm but windy day gave Benfield its second trophy after winning the Jubilee Cup earlier this season too. No club has ever won both the Jubilee Cup and Challenge Cup in the same season so history has been made this season and Benfield BC created it. Well done to all who took part... John Anderson, Paul Proctor, Andy Johnson, Jonathan King and Peter Carr, Roger Bishop, Matthew Bishop, Brian Rootham. Also to Kevin Craigie who played in the earlier round.
Benfield has National Champions

Saturday, 19th August 2023, saw sisters Kayleigh Proctor and Rachel Cartwright win the National Mixed Fours title with Simon Richardson and Chris Yeomans, both Gosforth, with a hard fought clash against the Huntingdon quartet Rebecca Moorbey, Chloe Brett, Lewis Baker, and commonwealth gold medallist, Nick Brett. The final score being 21 - 17. Well done to all four but, of course, a special celebration for our own pair of Rachel and Kayleigh.
